IS 12345:1988
Dear Reader, This is an important update for all existing licence holders, new applicants, manufacturers, importers, and product sellers dealing with Vinyl Acetate Monomer.
The Government of India has issued the Vinyl Acetate Monomer (Quality Control) Amendment Order, 2024 under the provisions of the Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 2016. This order mandates that all goods or articles of Vinyl Acetate Monomer must comply with the Indian Standard IS 12345:1988 – Vinyl Acetate Monomer – Specification.
From the implementation date, no person shall manufacture, store, sell, import, or distribute Vinyl Acetate Monomer that does not bear the Standard Mark (ISI Mark) issued under a valid BIS licence as per Scheme–I of Schedule–II of the BIS (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018.
The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) has been designated as the certification and enforcement authority for this order.

Any violation or non-compliance with this Order will attract penalties under the provisions of the BIS Act, 2016.
Products manufactured exclusively for export purposes are exempted, provided they comply with the specifications required by foreign buyers.
Any future amendments or revisions to IS 12345:1988, as notified by BIS, shall automatically apply from the date of their publication.
