Dear Reader, Here is an important update for all existing BIS license holders, new applicants, manufacturers, importers, and product sellers regarding the K Acid (Quality Control) Order, 2024.
BIS QCO for K Acid
The Government of India has notified the K Acid (Quality Control) Order, 2024 under the BIS Act, 2016. This Order makes it mandatory for K Acid to meet Indian Standard IS 11557:1986. The aim is to ensure product safety, quality, and uniformity across the industry.
From the date this Order comes into force, all goods or articles of K Acid must:
Conform strictly to IS 11557:1986
Carry the Standard Mark (ISI Mark) under a valid BIS licence issued as per Scheme–I of Schedule–II of the BIS (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018
Be manufactured and supplied only by BIS-certified units
Products manufactured solely for export are exempt from this requirement, provided they meet the standards of the importing country.
The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) has been officially designated as the certifying and enforcing authority for this Order. Any violation or non-compliance with this QCO will result in penalties as per Section 29 of the BIS Act, 2016.
Any future revisions or amendments to the applicable Indian Standard issued by BIS will automatically apply to this Order from the date they are published.
